About this funding
LOCAL ONLY — Oregon — Salem: McKay, North Salem, or South Salem High Schools. The scholarship awards $2,000 for tuition to accredited community colleges, colleges, universities, technical, trade, or vocational schools. Funds are paid directly to the educational institution. Selection criteria include an essay demonstrating overcoming challenging circumstances, financial need, and a GPA of 2.75 or higher. Relatives of the Scholarship Review Committee are not eligible.

• Senior or graduating student attending McKay High School, North Salem High School, or South Salem High School
• Planning to attend an accredited community college, college, university, technical, trade, or vocational school
• Grade point average of 2.75 or higher
• Demonstrate financial need
How to apply
Applicants must submit an online application with an essay, school and community activities, a statement of financial need, a list of available monies, and a letter of recommendation. An official high school transcript, in a sealed envelope with the school’s seal or a GED Transcript, must be mailed and postmarked by the deadline to The Salem Foundation – Jackie Winters Scholarship.
