About this opportunity

The STEM Research Grants offer funding to purchase specialized equipment or a set of pre-selected equipment valued at $1,000 for U.S. middle and high school teachers. Priority is given to schools lacking funding for research equipment. The grant supports independent student investigations involving experimentation, engineering design, or invention, and is not for general classroom materials or large team competition equipment. Additional special funding is available in 2026 for teachers in Tennessee. If selected, a teacher receives either funds or kits, not both. Eligibility: Teachers must be employed full-time by a school that includes at least one grade between 6th and 12th grade in the United States (including US territories). Funds must be accepted by the school or a nonprofit organization associated with the school. A school can receive up to $5,000 in any combination of kits or funds every 3 years. Applications must be completed by teachers themselves, reflecting their interest in supporting students long-term.
