Corporate foundations that support K-12 schools
How corporate giving works, why location matters, and how to read a corporate programme's rules.
Two kinds of corporate giving
Companies give through a separate corporate foundation (a legal charity with its own rules) or through direct corporate giving and local store programmes. Both often fund education, but the application routes differ.
Geography first
Most corporate programmes prioritise communities where the company has employees, stores or plants. Check this before anything else — it is the most common reason applications are declined.
Eligibility is often by organisation type
Some programmes fund public schools directly; others require a 501(c)(3), so a PTA, booster club or education foundation must apply on the school's behalf.
Watch for invitation-only programmes
Many large corporate foundations publish their priorities but accept proposals only by invitation. Our funder profiles mark these so you don't spend time on an application route that doesn't exist.
